What We Do

01.

Condition of Modern Orphan Children in India

In modern India, many orphan children still face serious challenges despite government schemes and NGOs. They often struggle with lack of emotional support, quality education, healthcare, nutrition, and safe shelter. In the digital era, orphan children are also at risk of digital exclusion, child labor, trafficking, addiction, and loss of moral guidance. Without proper care and mentorship, their talents remain hidden and their future uncertain.

02.

Our Inspiration

The Trust is inspired by the timeless values of the Buddha’s teachings
Compassion (Karuṇā), Wisdom (Paññā), Moral Conduct (Sīla), and Service to Humanity.

Our founder, being a Buddhist monk and social worker, envisioned an organization that works without discrimination of caste, creed, religion, or gender, purely for the happiness and well-being of the many (Bahujana Hitāya, Bahujana Sukhāya).

03.

Our Purpose

Tiratna Foundation Trust was established to address key social issues such as:

  • Lack of quality education in rural areas

  • Need for cultural preservation, language, and traditional arts

Rina Das, a young girl from a remote rural area, once stood silently at the back of the classroom. Coming from a financially struggling family, she had almost dropped out of school because her parents believed education was beyond their reach. She lacked confidence, basic learning materials, and encouragement.Through the support of our holistic education initiative, she received guidance, books, and personal mentoring. Teachers not only focused on academics but also nurtured discipline, moral values, and self-belief.

Within two years, Rina transformed remarkably. She began participating in class discussions, reading confidently, and helping other students learn. Today, she dreams of becoming a teacher so she can return to serve children in villages like hers.

Impact:
Education did not just change her academic performance—it changed her vision of life and empowered her family to value learning.

Skill Development Creating Economic Dignity

In a nearby village, several youth and women remained unemployed despite having traditional skills in handicrafts. Their talents were unrecognized, and many families depended on irregular daily wages, leading to cycles of poverty and uncertainty.

Our development program introduced skill enhancement training, basic financial literacy, and a platform to market handmade products. Participants learned how to improve quality, package products, and sell them both locally and online.

Soon, small groups began producing crafts regularly. Their income, though modest at first, became steady. Families that once struggled for essentials could now support children’s education and healthcare.

One participant shared:
“Earlier we worked without direction. Now we work with dignity and purpose.”

Impact:
Economic empowerment restored confidence, strengthened families, and created a self-reliant community rooted in ethical livelihood.
